Bespoke morganite engagement ring

Now that I am helping Alice in her appointments I get to know the customers and their commissions in much more depth so I thought I would write about a commission that has just come through that was particularly interesting.

The lovely couple in question had lots of strong ideas about what they wanted, and took their influences from lots of our pervious commissioned and ready to wear engagement rings added with some of their own personal influences to design their engagement ring. One of the main design features of the ring is two 'M' either side of the central stone. The Ms sit on the shoulders and create the height for the setting with the central leg being higher than the sides of the M. The relevance of the M is for their nicknames, Mog and Manda. Their names also have had another important influence on the design of the ring; they choose the beautiful strong clear pink in this morganite as Morgan is Mog's last name.

Rose and white gold engagement ring

Morganite's are a type of beryl and often referred to as 'pink aquamarines'. Manda really loved the way this morganite, in one of our ready to wear engagement rings, had been facetted as she felt it really drew her eye towards the centre of the stone. She didn't particularly want a square stone, and preferred rectangular shaped stones, so they decided to go for a baguette cut instead.

They decided that they would like the M to be in a different coloured metal to the band of the ring. So they choose to go for the creamy colour of 9ct white gold for the band, which really brings out the beautiful warm colour of 9ct rose gold used in the 'M'. We then used 9ct white gold to contrast the pink of the morganite.

The ingenious way in which this engagement ring has been designed and made means that Mog and Manda have stunningly beautiful ring that is intrinsically personal and sentimental to them.
