Children's Jewellery Making

At our recent Christmas open day Sarah and I had the pleasure of working with the children in the children's jewellery making corner. There were a number of items that they could choose to make ranging from hair adornments through to necklaces and bracelets using a variety of different beads. The ages of the children varied greatly with a huge amount of enthusiasm being shown and we could certainly spot a few budding designers in the making.

We managed to raise, along with the raffle, £381.21 on the day for NSPCC which was brilliant. Amongst other activities happening on the day we held a children's jewellery making competition. The winner was 7 year old Hannah Laskey-Sanders from Stotfold, who made a beautiful bracelet and alice band. She put a great deal of design planning and enthusiasm into making her pieces and ended up with some lovely jewellery. Well done Hannah.

There were some other children that stood out as needing a special mention because of enthusiasm and thought into their design process and beautiful final pieces. Their photos are below with their jewellery. Murran from Thurfield with her nicely designed bracelet, Georgia with her beautiful alice band, Melissa who won last years competition and Hannah from Weston with another lovely alice band.

Children's Making

A wonderful array of colourful and striking pieces were made throughout the day with different sized beads, vibrant in colour, pastels shades and pearls, many of which will be Christmas presents for school friends, mums and Grandmas. In all we had a lovely day and I believe a lot of fun was had by all the children and some Mums and Dads.
