Fairtrade Fortnight - Week 2

As we are entering into the second week of Fairtrade Fortnight, I thought it may be interesting to have a look at some of our past customers and their commissions over the last year that have opted to use Fairtrade and Fairmined gold in their one off pieces of jewellery.

The first couple that of course come to mind are Bernard and Carole, who we think were the first couple to ever commission a piece with us, and in fact the UK, using fully certified Fairtrade and Fairmined gold. They had a little bit of a wait for the fully certified gold to be available but were so happy they did; 'we believe that the ring shines brighter for having been mined and produced for the benefit not only of us but for the miners and villagers of South America.'

Another beautiful piece that was commissioned in Fairtrade and Fairmined gold was Mark and Rachel's engagement ring. They decided to opt for Fairtrade gold for Rachel's ring because 'Rachel wouldn't feel comfortable wearing gold which people and the environment had suffered to produce... especially as an engagement ring is such an important piece of jewellery.'

Lastly I think of Robert and Anne. After Robert proposed with a hula hoop (of the crisp variety) they both came in to design their perfect and ethical engagement ring; and it really is a stunner!

Although Fairtrade gold is rather new, it is quickly rising in popularity with Lisa Snowdon even commissioning a pendant from us in the gold. Yet I still wonder how many people still have never heard of Fairtrade gold? Let's all spread the word!
