I just wanted to show you an example of some beautiful engraving!

This was a commissioned engagement ring for a customer called Maria we completed last week. We have wonderful engraver and he has just engraved an intricate design on the outside of this princess cut tourmaline engagement ring which was handmade in palladium by Chief Goldsmith Richard.
Maria had a lovely silver dress ring that she has worn for a long time and she wanted the engraving matched as similarly as possible on her new engagement ring. We stylised the pattern to suit the new ring and the Relief style engraving was hand engraved onto the 4.5mm wide flat profile band.
This relief style engraving works really well especially if you want a detailed celtic pattern. The back ground of the pattern is textured so that the twist in the pattern has a polished look. Here is another example. It is a man's platinum wedding ring currently in our ready to wear wedding rings collection.
The other alternative to the Relief style engraving is a single engraved line which has a little more of a simple look.
Here is a set of wedding rings that have a single engraved line. The ladies ring is narrower and polished while the man's ring is wider with a more understated satin finish for a complementing set of bands. It works well with the satin finish as the engraved line is bright and shows the detail off well.
A single engraved line can also be very simple if you dont want a lot of detail but can add a flow to a plain band. In this ready to wear eternity ring with blue sapphire and diamond the engraved lines waves around the ring intersecting with the stones.
As you can see there is more to engaving than meets the eye!
