We get a lot of guys at this time year coming into our showrooms and contacting our enquiries team who want an engagement ring for a Christmas or New Year proposal, many who wish they had started looking sooner when they realise that there isn't enough time for a bespoke engagement ring, but we have a few great solutions if you want to go down the commission route and don't have quite enough time for the whole commission process to be completed.
The basic commission in a box service includes a presentation box with information about the designer, goldsmiths and the appointment, to add to this you can also have some full colour presentation sketches (which is also a really nice keep sake) or you could also have a stone to propose with.
Robert knew that Deborah would like an engagement ring with a contemporary design incorporating straight lines and curves. Alice made a few different thumb nail sketches in an initial appointment and then did some full colour presentation sketches for him to propose with. He proposed to Deborah, and she said yes, they came back in together for a second appointment to make a few alterations to the design.
Personally I think one of the nicest things about the commission in a box is that you still retain the romantic gesture but the person receiving the gift can also be involved with the design of the piece of jewellery, so they can get something they really love.
Although we more often than not sell the commission in a box for proposals they are also a lovely idea for commissioning other items of jewellery such as eternity rings. Many people who buy the commission in a box aren't really sure about the design of the piece of jewellery at all, this is where the basic commission in a box is ideal as you can simply arrange an appointment time and come back and go through the design once you have given the surprise gift. However some of our customers do know that the recipient would love a diamond, ruby or sapphire for example and this is where we can source a stone for you to present along with the presentation box.
