We often have many people enquiring about reusing their own gemstone and I think it is a lovely and sentimental way to bring life into old items of jewellery that for whatever reason are no longer being worn. Whilst I have been over in our Hertfordshire studio I have been working closely with Antoinette and I have sat in several appointments where the customers have had their own gemstones that they would like to reuse in a new engagement ring, so I thought I would write a little about a couple of lovely commission that are currently going through at the moment.
Richard and Olivia had a beautiful sapphire ring and wanted to re-use the sapphire in a brand new engagement ring for Olivia. She had seen this ready to wear ring, on our website and really wanted to create something similar incorporating her own 2.8mm x 2.5mm, 0. 18ct, princes cut blue sapphire. It was important to Olivia that the ring would be delicate and practical so Antoinette designed a ring with a slim 2mm wide palladium band and with a simple all around setting to create a delicate, modern and very pretty engagement ring.
Aaron and Laura had their own diamond ring, Laura had seen this stunning Art Deco inspired ring and wanted to incorporate her own gorgeous brilliant cut diamond with a pair of trilliant cut blue sapphires either side. We sourced a selection of trilliant cut blue sapphires for them to come in and have a closer look at and they decided on the pair that they wanted to use. The band of Laura's engagement ring is made out of palladium and measures 2.5mm wide, the trilliant cut pair of blue sapphires will be end only set pointing outwards. We will then end only set their own brilliant cut diamond, to create the Art Deco look that Laura wanted.
I can't wait to see both of these rings once completed, their designs are very different but they will both be very beautiful engagement rings and immensely sentimental to both couples.
