Romantic story for daffodil inspired engagement ring

I love daffodils - they have been so late this year, but are finally now coming out near my home. This morning on the way to school, my 4 year old son announced 'I love daffodils mummy - they are my very best flower'. When I asked why, he said 'Because they are so sunny and they are yellow like my hair and they also look a bit like trumpets and I really like trumpets and want to be a funky-trumpet player when I grow up'. I had to agree - they are such a wonderful spring-time joyful flower - I can see why he likes them so much. They are my aunt's favourite flower too and she says that at this time of year, she has to have some for 'yellow therapy'.

Close to our Halls Green studio, the A602 runs between the edge of Hitchin and the edge of Stevenage. If you are travelling along there from Hitchin towards Stevenage close to Great Wymondly, you will notice a lovely array of daffodils on the verge next to the motorway. I had been driving past these for a few years before I noticed that the flowers actually appeared to spell something. on closer inspection, I noticed that it actually says 'I love you' followed by a name which has become rather over-grown as the daffodils have spread so you can't quite read it. This is so wonderfully romantic isn't it? I long to know the story behind them and who on earth planted them? It must have been quite a few years ago now. I spoke to some of the team here and a few other people had noticed this too but nobody can read the name and nobody knows the romantic story behind it. Do let us know if you know the story behind these lovely flowers!

I designed this ring inspired by the story that I imagined around the daffodils on the A602 and hope that somebody does something equally romantic when they propose with it or give it as a present!
