A Sentimental Bespoke Engagement Ring

Being Rebecca's design Assistant I have the opportunity to sit in lots of appointments, it feels very special to be part of this treasured moment for each couple, especially when an engagement ring is so sentimental for them both. A recent commission customer has a lovely story, which I wanted to tell you all about.

David originally had an appointment with Rebecca unknown to Vicky his partner. He knew Vicky was keen for her own Engagement ring to be inspired by her Grandmother's engagement ring which was a lovely three stone engagement ring in yellow gold, each diamond held in a very traditional six claw setting. David knew Vicky wanted to have elements of her Grandmother's ring, but put a modern twist into the design.

David loved the idea of proposing with our proposal in a box adding that extra touch with the sketches inside, so it would be a lovely surprise for Vicky but having the added bonus of her being involved in finalising the design. It was perfect for both of them!

The proposal was a complete surprise for Vicky at her Birthday Party which had a brilliant theme of medieval fancy dress, where David proposed in front of all their friends and family. They both came into our studio together to finalise the design, Vicky was over the moon with the sketches and decided she wanted to use all three of her grandmother’s diamonds in a three stone design. To add an extra modern element into the design we used a square setting to set each round diamond giving a different look to the overall shape of the stone, but still keeping a classic design with a modern twist.

It's wonderful seeing a commission from start to finish especially when each stage is so personal for the customer. Below are the photos of Vicky's Grandmother's ring before we have unset the stones and the final design, its fascinating to see the transformation from a very classic engagement ring into a modern design adding the exact details the customer is after. An engagement ring is a very special piece of jewellery but adding that little bit of sentimentality makes it even more unique just for David and Vicky.
