18ct white gold engagement ring with white and heat-treated blue diamonds
This engagement ring holds a central white brilliant cut 0.07ct HSI diamond flanked by two beautiful 2mm brilliant cut heat-treated sky-blue diamonds each invisibly set. The band has a flat inside with a slight outside curve with the band tapering gently from just over 4mm at the front to just under 2mm at the back. The contrast between the pale aqua-blue and the white diamonds gives a beautiful effect.
The diamonds get their beautiful blue colours when they are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and cost many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures (eg by a jeweller during resizing of the ring) so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stone must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work
