This stunning and dramatic ring holds a HUGE Ruby matrix weighing 59.55cts. This deep raspberry gemstone is approximately 32x26mm in size. This type of ruby is not pure but also incorporates the base rock in which the small ruby crystals have grown and so has a very different nature and feel (and price) to pure ruby. It is more brittle than ruby because of the natural striations in the stone but in Harriet's experience is usually pretty hard wearing. In this particular stone, these natural striations give a wonderful 'V' shaped pattern which catches the light beautifully. The sterling silver band is about 4mm wide. This would be a stunning dress ring or could even be an engagement ring or eternity ring for somebody who favours dramatic designs.
