Acrylic Information

Acrylic is not new to jewellery design, this wonderfully versatile material can be followed back with the introduction of bakelite in the 1920’s and 30’s where it lent itself well to jewellery and was used with great effect in this decadent age. Plastic in the 1940’s and 50’s gave some light relief and a much needed injection of colour into jewellery at a time when materials and money were in short supply as Europe was coming out of the darkness of the war years, and entering the age of glamour! The1980’s saw an explosion of coloured geometric acrylic jewellery with the discovery of new techniques and modern forms of plastic and resins to fuel imaginations. Today we can now boast our own range of stunning contemporary acrylic jewellery which with its simple elegance and clean crisp lines we hope is a welcome contribution to the legacy of acrylic.
