Style

Alice is a people person and loves to design for individuals, drawing inspiration from those around her and her commission customers. A lover of bright colours, her work combines this sense of fun with organic shapes - soft round edges, leaves or flowers to produce jewellery that is both dramatic and elegant.

Career

Alice was born and bred in the North Hertfordshire village of Bennington where she showed a very early interest in jewellery by making her own necklaces at the tender age of 7!

She carried her love of jewellery and semi-precious stones through her teenage years and decided to make design her career, enrolling on the Product and Furniture Design BA at DeMontfort University in Leicester.

During her University time, she learnt a great deal about practical design as the course was an excellent grounding in the general skills necessary to be a successful designer. Flair and originality are important skills in design, but this has to be centred around a practical understanding of manufacture which this course taught Alice.

She graduated in 2003 and immediately afterwards attended the New Designers' Exhibition in London, where she exhibited a modular contract seating solution. She won the BCFA Award for this project, and the opportunity to exhibit at the INDEX Exhibition in Dubai.

Alice never lost sight of her first love - jewellery and jumped at the opportunity to join the company. Her strong grounding and education in design, together with her obvious passion for jewellery makes her a first rate jewellery designer and she is rapidly developing a large portfolio of delighted commission customers as well as designing much of the ready to wear collections exhibited in our showrooms.

Ethics in jewellery and important issues such as conflict diamonds have always been of particular interest to Alice. She is using this passion to help change the industry for the better by representing the company in conferences and meetings on the subject.

In October 2009 Alice took over the running of our Cambridge studio.
