How does my commission begin?

The process begins with an appointment with one of our award-winning designers.

During the consultation the designer will discuss your style, what clothes you wear, what colours you prefer - this is their chance to discover the perfect design for you.
Many customers come to us with a very clear idea of what they want, perhaps it has always been their dream to own a particular stone or maybe they have seen a design on our site that they would like to form the basis of their unique engagement ring. We are always very happy to turn your ideas into a practical reality using our design and making experience. This may involve tweeking the initial idea or reworking it into something similar but keeping the initial concept intact. Many designers are only willing to work on modifications of their own designs, this is not our approach and we are always happy to help you turn your ideas into reality

A cornflower blue sapphire as a surprise for Cheryl

An engagement ring design including Dapo and Tope's birthstones

Other customers present us with a very fluid brief. In this case, our designers will talk through prefered style and tastes and talk generally about your life to find inspiration. Perhaps the location of a proposal can form the basis of an idea, or a hobby or life-long passion, or just a design that is very simple and elegant. Whatever is right for you.

Where does my appointment take place and what if I am based too far away?

If you choose a face to face appointment, we can meet in either our Halls Green design studio or our Cambridge city centre shop.
A large proportion of our customers never visit the studio including, of course, those based in the US. In this circumstance we can do a phone appointment which we find works just as well. This is followed up by close contact via email.
Visiting our Hertfordshire design studio is an exciting experience. Based in a specially converted tudor barn on a working farm in the Hertfordshire countryside, why not make a day of it? The Rising Sun pub next door or the Cricketers in Weston offer a traditional welcome and all this just 40 minutes from London, up the A1(M).
Our shop on the other hand is right in the middle of historic Cambridge. Next to the world famous King's College chapel, our shop is set in the ancient cobbled streets. Why not take in some punting or visit a few of the colleges?
