What happens after the appointment? If necessary, your designer will draw some sketches which will be posted or emailed to you. This is not always necessary but if it is we would ask for a small deposit to cover our time. This deposit is put towards your ring when you choose to go ahead with the design. Your sketches may contain options for you to choose from, ideas based on the information gathered during the appointment. During this process your designer will be thinking out how the engagement ring will be handmade with one of our team of experienced goldsmiths, working through the practical as well as creative elements of the design. 	How does this compare with what other websites offer? What we are doing here is proper design: reconciling the creative with the practical to come up with something that is unique for you and of course properly constructed to last. This hardly compares with the "design your own ring" software available on other websites. This isn't design, it is just adding a stone to a pre-made mass-produced cast ring which retailers can buy from a catalogue. Beware of copies of our ideas, our website wording (rather annoying for us!) and most importantly our designs which are legally protected by UK design right.

What will my sketches look like?

All of our sketches are free-hand drawn.

We prefer the freedom of hand drawing rather than CAD (Computer Aided Design) as it is more sculptural. To be a designer you need to be creative (as well as be able to draw!) and we think that CAD inhibits creativity and is for engineers.
