Conflict Diamonds
Overview

We as a company have always been passionate about using conflict free diamonds and ethically mined gemstones and together with the British Jewellers' Association, the Council for Responsible Jewellery Practices and our diamond suppliers put a lot of effort into ensuring that the diamonds that we use are not sourced from areas of Africa controlled by forces rebelling against the legitimate and internationally recognised government of the relevant country.

We are one of only 66 worldwide members of the Council of Responsible Jewellery Practices and are at the absolute forefront of the battle against conflict diamonds.

Selling jewellery is not all about profit and expansion to us, it is about providing the best possible service to our customers and developing a personal relationship with them which includes an understanding by them of our processes, ethics and what we stand for. So ethically mined jewellery is something that is not only of huge importance to us but to our customers as well. We always have felt like this and we always will, and we are not just saying that because the issue has hit the attention of the media with the release of the film "Blood Diamonds".

Our diamond suppliers have provided us with the following assurances:

1) All of their diamonds are sold in accordance with the DTC Best Practice Principles
2) No diamonds have been purchased in breach of UN resolutions Nos. 1173, 1176 and 1306.
3) The intake of diamonds does not include any diamonds that have come from any area in Africa controlled by forces rebelling against the legitimate and internationally recognised government of the relevant country.
