Hand engraving on the inside or outside of your engagement ring is a lovely addition. Here are some guidelines as to how to think about what can be done.

Inside of your engagement ring shank

Engraving on the inside of an engagement ring is only really available in one font style - this is a slightly italicised script. The cost is £1.30 (+VAT UK and EU only) per character (thats about US$2.35) and there is generally enough space for a maximum of about 28 characters including spaces, but of course this varies from size to size. We can engrave words in English or any other language and simple symbols (for example a simple heart shape). Its worth remembering that if your engagement ring has many stones then these stone backs are usually open (to aid cleaning the stones) so we can only generally fit about 1 character between each stone hole and one of these gaps will already be taken up with the hallmark.

Outside of your engagement ring shank

If your engagement ring is a simple design, the cost of engraving on the outside of it can be from about £1.50 (+VAT UK and EU only) per letter (thats about US$2.70) for small simple italics. There are a large choice of fonts so email us if you have something particular in mind. Alternatively, you could print something in your own handwriting and our engravers could copy this onto your engagement ring.

Shapes can also be engraved onto the outside of your engagement ring. This engraving is done by hand and so in general very intricate designs do not work very well. As a rule of thumb, imaging drawing a shape into your engagement ring using a felt tip pen will give you an idea of the type of simple design that will work.
