Topaz is a generally a blue gemstone but it is available in many other colours, such as yellow, pink and brown. It is a relatively hard stone - 8 (out of 10) on the Moh's Scale and is the astrological birthstone or Sagittarius and the US State stone for Texas
We regularly use topaz as a less expensive but equally beautiful alternative to sapphire and other blue gemstones, so would highly recommend a topaz engagement ring.
