Hand Engraving Details
Hand engraving makes a lovely addition to the inside or the outside of your wedding ring. Here are some guidelines as to what can be done.
Inside of your wedding ring shank
Lettered engraving on the inside of an wedding ring is only available in one font style - this is a slightly italicised script. There is a minimum cost for this of £60 (+VAT UK and EU only) for up to 20 characters plus a further £3 (+VAT UK and EU only) (thats about US$6) per character after that. There is generally enough space for a maximum of about 28 normal characters including spaces, but of course this varies from size to size. We can engrave words in any language and simple symbols (for example a simple heart shape). Simple symbols (eg a heart) start at around £7 + VAT (about US$14) per character. Its worth remembering that if your wedding ring has many stones then these stone backs are usually open (to aid cleaning the stones) so we can only generally fit about 1 character between each stone hole and one of these gaps will already be taken up with the hallmark.
Outside of your wedding ring shank
If your wedding ring is a simple design, the cost of engraving on the outside of it can be from about £4 (+VAT UK and EU only) per letter (thats about US$8) for small simple italics. There are a large choice of fonts so email us if you have something particular in mind. Alternatively, you could print something in your own handwriting and our engravers could copy this onto your wedding ring.
Shapes can also be engraved onto your wedding ring's outside. This engraving is done by hand and so in general very intricate designs do not work very well. As a rule of thumb, imaging drawing a shape into your wedding ring using a felt tip pen - this gives you an idea of the type of simple design that will work.
