A flame inspired engagement ring

A flame inspired engagement ring

At Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery, it’s never just about the jewellery. As a designer I’m driven by the stories and inspirations behind each design, so I wanted to share a recent commission which had a particularly lovely thought process behind it.

My customer came to me hoping to commission a bespoke engagement ring for his girlfriend which reflected her career as an artist. As we chatted he told me about her work as a sculptor and the mesmerising flames that are produced as she forms each creation. We decided flames and fire would be a fitting inspiration for her engagement ring. The final design involves intricate metal work to create a striking flame-like shape.  The organic shaping of the rose gold metalwork sweeps around a pear cut diamond to create flowing lines and movement to mimic the flames. The design features a row of dark red rubies around one side of the stone which emphasises the shape of the flickering fire and gives the ring a unique asymmetric design.

Incorporating a particular inspiration into your bespoke engagement ring is a wonderful way to make your special jewellery unique to you and your partner. The inspiration can be anything, from where you met, to your hobbies, your interests or jobs or perhaps a place that is personal to you both or a special holiday you had together...the possibilities are endless. The inspiration behind the design could be showcased in a subtle or obvious way or perhaps an abstract way so that only you and your partner know the true meaning behind the design.
