Ruby measures 9 on the Mohs scale, which is just one below diamond, making it an ideal choice for an engagement ring or a piece of jewellery that will be worn everyday. In its purest form the mineral of ruby is colourless but chromium causes ruby’s red, which ranges from an orangey red to a purplish red. Most rubies have been heat treated to improve colour or clarity. It should be assumed that rubies we supply have been treated unless we specify otherwise. Find out more....
